How much room do you need for a container delivery?
A tilt-bed truck needs roughly 60 feet of straight clearance to place a 20ft container and about 100 feet for a 40ft, plus clear overhead for the bed to tilt. The ground should be gravel, concrete or firm level dirt — soft sand or a rain-soaked yard will bog the truck down.
How it is actually placed
A tilt-bed truck backs in, tilts the bed up, and slides the container off while pulling forward. It is not craned or set sideways, so the truck needs a straight run roughly the length of the container plus the truck itself.
Overhead matters as much as length — the bed tilts high, so low limbs, service drops and carport eaves all stop a delivery.
What stops a delivery
A gate or tree gap narrower than the truck. A turn too tight to straighten out before the drop. Power or cable lines over the placement spot. Soft ground after heavy rain. Nobody able to confirm the spot when the driver arrives.
