Placement and permits in Purvis

No rule written for shipping containers was found for Purvis or Lamar County. Lamar County's zoning ordinance (November 2022) is the clearest text in the Pine Belt: in the General County district an accessory building sits at least 25 ft back from the road right-of-way and 10 ft from the side and rear lines (§501.4); in residential districts, side or rear yard only, 10 ft off the lines (§401.06); agricultural lots have no limit on the number of farm buildings (§502.4). Lamar's state-required residential construction permit is $50 and applies only outside city limits. Purvis City Hall (125 Shelby Speights Dr, 601-794-2472) answers inside the city; Lamar County Planning & Development (144 Shelby Speights Dr, 601-794-1024) outside it.

Will the truck make it in? Purvis lots

Tilt-bed truck sliding a 20ft container onto a gravel pad — the truck backs in, tilts, and the box slides off the back

Lamar is the third-fastest-growing county in Mississippi with nearly 47 new subdivisions, and the county requires a homeowners association for any subdivision in its GC/2 district — so in a new Purvis or Oak Grove subdivision, read the covenants before you order; many restrict detached structures. Older Purvis lots and the county acreage toward Baxterville are straightforward. The February 2013 EF4 peaked just southwest of Oak Grove High School and the May 2026 tornadoes damaged 46 Lamar County homes: firm ground and a loaded box.

The truck needs about 110 ft of straight run for a 20ft and 130 ft for a 40ft, 15 ft overhead, and firm ground: the full delivery checklist.
