Which depot serves the Coast

No supplier in our feed keeps a yard on the Mississippi coast itself. Coast ZIPs are priced from two depots: Mobile, AL — roughly 40 road miles to Pascagoula, 65 to Biloxi, 78 to Gulfport — and New Orleans, LA — roughly 55 to Picayune, 60 to Bay St. Louis, 80 to Gulfport. Delivery is included in the price either way; the depot only decides which truck shows up. Published lead time for a standard container is 3–7 business days from order confirmation (supplier's delivery guide).

Reference prices, delivered to 395xx

These are our delivered prices to the Gulfport ZIP 39501; every 395 ZIP on the Coast prices the same, and so does Picayune. Feed updated Oct 4, 2026.

Cargo-worthy and 40ft standard-height boxes are on the containers page with the same ZIP lookup.

Storm-season storage on the Coast

A container is not a shelter and it is not a substitute for the flood elevation your lot may require. What it is: a steel box that keeps rain out and that, loaded and sitting on firm ground, weighs several tons. Coast buyers use them for the things that do not fit in the house and should not sit in a yard in September — generators, boat gear, tools, a contractor's materials, the contents of a ground-floor room before a storm. Two honest cautions: an empty container in open wind is a sail, so ask your building department about anchoring; and if the surge map says your lot takes water, the container will too.

What the truck needs

Local placement and permit rules

Each coast city administers its own zoning and flood rules, and they are not the same. Two that are worth knowing before you read further: on December 16, 2025 the Gulfport City Council limited residentially converted shipping containers to existing RB-zoned manufactured-home parks (WLOX), and in April 2026 Long Beach created a temporary permit for businesses already using containers while it rewrites its container ordinance (Long Beach Breeze). Each town page links the office that answers for that city:

Outside city limits, the county (Harrison, Jackson, Hancock or Pearl River) is the authority instead.

If you would rather pick one up

There is no container yard on the Mississippi coast in our supplier feed. The nearest real yards are across the Alabama line, and if you have a truck and a way to set the box, buying there and hauling it yourself is a fair option. We list them because it is true, not because we earn anything from it:

Coast towns

Each page carries that town's delivered price block, its serving depot and distance, its own placement note with the city's link, and what the truck runs into on its lots.

Questions

How much does a shipping container cost delivered on the Mississippi Gulf Coast?
The reference prices on this page are delivered to the 395 ZIP prefix (Gulfport through Pascagoula and Bay St. Louis) and include the truck. Picayune (394) is priced the same. The number does not change at the door.
Where does a Gulf Coast delivery actually come from?
From the supplier depot in Mobile, AL or New Orleans, LA, whichever has the grade in stock. Jackson and Harrison County orders usually roll from Mobile; Hancock and Pearl River County orders from New Orleans. The delivered price is the same from either.
How long does delivery take?
The supplier publishes 3–7 business days from order confirmation for standard containers. We confirm the order and a delivery window with you before anything is charged.
Do I need a permit to put a storage container on my lot?
On the coast, often yes, and it varies by city and by whether the parcel is in a flood zone. Gulfport, Biloxi, Ocean Springs, Pascagoula, Bay St. Louis, Picayune and Long Beach each administer their own rules; the town pages link to the right office. Long Beach is actively revising its container ordinance as of April 2026.
Can I just drive to a yard and pick one up instead?
Yes. The nearest real yards to the Mississippi coast are in Theodore and Mobile, Alabama, and both are listed below. You will need a tilt-bed or a chassis and a way to set the box on your ground; that is the part the delivered price covers.
Does Longleaf rent containers on the coast?
No. We sell used and one-trip containers, delivered. If you need a box for a few weeks, a rental yard or a self-storage unit is the better fit.
