Where can I buy a 40ft high cube container in the Pine Belt?
Longleaf sells 40ft high cube shipping containers in the Pine Belt, used wind and watertight or one-trip, delivered by tilt-bed to your lot from Hattiesburg and Petal out to Laurel, Purvis, Columbia and Lucedale. Enter your ZIP on our containers page and you get one delivered price with the haul already in it; the only thing to confirm before you order is that your site has about 130 feet of straight, firm run for the truck.
A 40ft high cube container for sale in the Pine Belt: what you are choosing
A 40ft high cube is the same 40' x 8' footprint as a standard 40 — the box most people around here just call a conex — but it stands 9'6" outside instead of 8'6", which gives you about a foot more headroom inside. That foot is the reason to buy it: shelving to the ceiling, stacked feed, a loft, or a workbench you stand at all day without the roof close overhead.
Grade is the other choice. The 40ft high cube used wind and watertight is sound, sealed and dented — the right buy for a farm, a deer camp or the back of a shop lot where nobody is judging the paint. The 40ft high cube one-trip has crossed the ocean once and arrives with near-new floor, seals and paint; it earns the extra on a lot in town or when the box will become a workshop. One-trip vs used explains what each grade actually promises.
Both are priced as one delivered number by ZIP. Pine Belt boxes come up from the Gulf Coast depots, and the truck leg is priced on road miles from whichever one holds the grade you pick, so a 40HC to Collins or Richton prices a little differently than one to Hattiesburg. The containers page shows yours, and the Pine Belt page lists the towns we deliver.
Can your lot take a 40ft high cube?
This is what decides it, not the price. A tilt-bed backs in straight and slides the box off the back, so a 40 needs about 130 feet of straight run, 15 feet of clear overhead, and firm, level ground where it lands. A 40 cannot be turned once it is down, so the doors face where the truck pointed.
In the Pine Belt the usual problems are pine limbs over a long gravel drive and red clay that stays soft for days after a heavy rain. If the truck sinks or cannot clear the limbs, it cannot set the box, and a failed drop is billable. Walk the run with a tape before you order; delivery access and preparing for delivery cover what to check. If you do not have 130 feet, a 20ft is not a compromise — it is the box that will arrive. See 20ft vs 40ft.
If you only need the room for a few months, or the site is not yours to keep it on, a local rental yard is honestly the better answer. A 40HC is a box you buy to keep.
Before you buy a 40HC in the Pine Belt
Make one call. Rules for a container kept on a residential lot differ town to town. Inside city limits, call that city's planning or code office — Hattiesburg, Petal, Laurel and the rest each have their own; outside the limits, call Forrest, Lamar, Jones or your own county's planning office and ask how a permanent 40ft container on your parcel is treated. Storage container permits covers what to ask.
Plan for the heat and the humidity. A 40HC holds more air and more sweat than a 20, and condensation is the thing that actually goes wrong in south Mississippi — vents are the cheap fix; see container condensation. For a camp, the Hunting Camp Box is a 40ft high cube with the puck lock box, padlock, solar lights, shelving brackets and a solar vent priced as one delivered package; the kit ships separately as bolt-on, no-drill parts you install yourself, and nothing arrives assembled. Vents, lights and brackets are also sold one at a time on the accessories page.
Your card is authorized, not charged, until we confirm the order and the delivery window with you, and delivery is typically within a week or two after that. Shopping in one town?
