What a Hattiesburg lot needs
A tilt-bed truck needs about 60 feet of straight clearance to set a 20ft container down, and about 100 feet for a 40ft. On the older in-town streets around Midtown and the Historic Neighborhood, driveway length is usually the deciding factor, not yard size — which is why the 20ft is the right answer far more often than people expect.
Look up as well as along. Low limbs and the service drop to the house stop more deliveries here than tight gates do, because the bed has to tilt high to slide the box off.
Ground matters after rain. Gravel, concrete or firm level dirt is fine; a soaked yard in the spring or after a tropical system will bog a loaded truck long before it bothers the container. What to ask before you agree to anything
Ask for rent and for delivery and collection quoted as separate figures. A single bundled number cannot be compared against another yard's, and delivery is the line that varies most.
Ask what happens if the truck cannot complete the drop. A failed delivery is billable almost everywhere, and it is the most common avoidable cost on a container rental. Walk the approach and measure it before the truck is booked, not after.
If you are only storing something for a few weeks, say so up front. Under about two months the one-time delivery and collection charge dominates the bill, and a self-storage unit across town is usually the cheaper answer.
