Using a container while you renovate
A container is one of the cheapest ways to empty rooms during a renovation, because it sits in your own driveway and you load it once instead of hauling everything to a storage unit and back. For a typical whole-room or kitchen renovation a 20ft is usually enough.
Why it works for renovations
You load it once, at your own pace, in your own driveway. No truck rental, no Saturday convoy to a storage facility, no second unload at the other end.
Contractors like it too — an empty room is a faster room, and the container gives them somewhere to stage materials that is not your living room.
Size and timing
A 20ft holds the contents of two or three rooms comfortably. Whole-house renovations, or anything with large furniture and appliances, are where the 40ft earns its money.
Renovations run long — assume yours will. Check whether the rental goes month to month after the first month, because if it does an overrun costs you one more month rather than a new contract. Ask before you sign, not in month four.
