A container equipment room at a Pine Belt ball field: the drawing a church or league board votes on
Yes, and it is one of the simplest uses there is: a used 20ft holds the mower, bases, chalk, nets and concession dry stock, needs no slab, and arrives on a truck the week after the board votes. The free plan set is the drawing to put in front of the board, with the layout, the parts and what the lumber yard will charge.
Why fields end up with a container
Most small fields keep the mower in a member's barn and the bases in somebody's trunk. A container puts it all at the field, locked, and it does not need a contractor or, in most counties, a building permit. It is one cost a board can vote on.
Set it outside the foul line with the doors toward the infield so the mower rolls straight out. The mower comes in on a 4 ft ramp, and bases, chalk and concession stock go on an 8 ft shelf run. Two vents keep it dry through the off-season.
Who holds the keys
Two padlock keys, two people: the groundskeeper and one board member, with a key log in the scorebook. The lock box over the door handles means a key is the only way in, and a changed padlock is cheap.
Dry concession stock is fine on the shelves or a pallet, in sealed totes. Refrigerated goods and fryer oil are not.
What the board votes on
One number: the package price delivered to your ZIP on the field equipment room page, plus the lumber and blocks from the plan's cut list. Then a Saturday with volunteers: bolt the lock box, cut the two vent openings, hang the brackets and lights, unfold the ramp. Nothing is welded.
In town, a church or school usually files an accessory-building permit as the property owner; in the county, often nothing. Get the property owner's sign-off either way. See permit rules and delivery access for the truck's needs.
The layout, drawn to the box
This is sheet 2 of the free Field Equipment Room plan set: the 20ft standard container drawn from real ISO dimensions, with every shelf, rack and opening placed. The mower rolls in on a 4 ft ramp, bases, chalk and concession stock go on an 8 ft shelf run, two vents keep it dry. The drawing a board votes on.
